Welcome Taylor Grimes – Girly Geek of the Week!
Here’s a Girly Geek making big strides in her career! Taylor had a strategy from the door when it came to learning Salesforce! She’s a Marketing wiz, a brand new Girly Geeks Leader and is an aspiring Salesforce MVP! Look out Salesforce Community, Taylor is a #TrailBlazer!
Me: How & when did you start working with Salesforce?
Taylor: I started working in SFDC when I was in college for a fun start up out of LA as a remote Salesforce Administrator, with no experience might I add! I worked for free just for the opportunity to learn Salesforce, I was familiar with the company and knew it was a key skill to list. That summer of free labor got me every job I ever landed since! Now that’s an amazing Salesforce Admin strategy!! 🙂
Me: What is your current role working with Salesforce?
Taylor: I am a Salesforce Consultant today. I assist with migrations, implementations, and custom consulting projects! The more complex the client’s goal the better, because I am always learning and gaining valuable experience from the problems client’s bring forth I’ve never encountered myself or in my internal org. I love Consulting! ❤
Me: What is your favorite thing to do in Salesforce and why?
Taylor: My favorite thing to do in Salesforce is translate an internal gap in our business process and translate it into a custom built Salesforce solution. That’s the best way to prove your worth, save your company money or time (even better if it’s both) based upon your Salesforce know-how! Without a doubt! Key = Show your worth! Always!
Me: Are you currently certified? And if so what certifications do you hold?
Taylor: I am a certified Administrator and Sales Cloud Consultant. I am working on Advanced Admin currently; my test is scheduled for August 5th! I found tight deadlines helped me keep myself accountable to reaching goals. Agree with the deadlines and GOOD LUCK! 🙂
Me: What are some of your aspirations and/or goals when it comes to Salesforce?
Taylor: I would like to become a Salesforce MVP in the next year and eventually work my way up to the Technical Architect someday! YESSS!!! those are two super #Awesome goals Taylor! Salesforce Fact = Only 5 women hold the Technical Architect Certification – unless it changed in recent months, that was the last I heard – Come on ladies, let’s do this!!
Me: Do you have any advice for women working with Salesforce?
Taylor: Do not let anyone get in your head that you can’t pick up Salesforce. If you get excited about Salesforce and are into the energy of our community that’s all the drive it takes. Passion fuels the desire to learn. #Truth! Very well said!
Me: What kinds of things are you involved in, and/or do you like to do outside of the Salesforce world?
Taylor: I’m a foodie and a kitty aficionado. My Pinterest board is so large you’d think it was my life’s work. Only a true data geek see’s the beauty in pinning, where every book has its rightful shelf in your library. I ❤ Kitties too! 😀
Me: Are you part of a Girly Geeks Chapter?
Taylor: I am actively trying to launch a Girly Geeks Nebraska Chapter, and if it’s a go you’ll see me there! However, for the time being I am a member of Cloudy Girly Geeks. It’s a digital ‘meet-up’ for Girly Geeks on the run like myself. As of this post, Taylor is officially the new Girly Geeks leader for a Nebraska Chapter! CONGRATS!! 🙂
