Welcome Rachel Natik – Girly Geek of the Week!
Meet Rachel hailing from Montreal, Canada! She is a rising star in the Salesforce Community and someone to keep your eyes on! She is an accidental Admin turned Consultant, working and making a difference in the Non Profit/Education sector for Cloud 4 Good! Rachel also has a fairly new excellent blog you need to check out! Her latest post is on Look up vs Master detail relationships – something I struggled with in the beginning!
Me: How & when did you start working with Salesforce?
Rachel: I started with Salesforce almost 4 years ago. At that time I was working at a nonprofit, and a volunteer (who actually uses it for 2 of his businesses) introduced us to Salesforce and the amazing foundation. Almost immediately, I became the accidental Admin and fell in love with Salesforce. I had never heard of Salesforce before, and even when using it never realized how incredible it was till I started really learning it! True story of so many Admins! The “Accidental Admin”! It’s my story as well!
Me: What is your current role working with Salesforce?
Rachel: Cloud Consultant at Cloud 4 Good. We are Silver Partner Consultants, implementing strategic cloud solutions for nonprofits and educational organizations.
Me: What is your favorite thing to do in Salesforce and why?
Rachel: So many things! I love when a new feature comes out and I go, “WOW! This is going to be great for X.” I enjoy putting together reports and analyzing the data gathered – I can spend hours doing that! Process automation is also a HUGE favorite of mine; the power and flexibility of Process Builder & Flows in incredible! So many powerful declarative options! and who doesn’t love analytics!! 🙂
Me: Are you currently certified? And if so what certifications do you hold?
Rachel: Yes! And so should you! Admin, Advanced Admin, Developer. Agreed! if you work on the Salesforce Platform, GET CERTIFIED!
Me: What are some of your aspirations and/or goals when it comes to Salesforce?
Rachel: I would love to learn to code. Thanks to some amazing people out there, I feel motivated and encouraged to make this a reality. I’m not there yet – but I will be there soon! So many great tools and sights to learn code – and opportunities at Dreamforce 15!
Me: Do you have any advice for women working with Salesforce?
Rachel: Salesforce is a beautiful and inclusive community. We want you to shine and succeed. Don’t be intimidated to ask questions or probe – it’s the best way to learn. Also, this can apply to anyone: There is a ton of information out there. Look for it. Whether on Google, Salesforce Help, YouTube, Success Community – you can find solutions and answers to almost anything. The power of the Salesforce Community is amazing! Use it! ❤
Me: What kinds of things are you involved in, and/or do you like to do outside of the Salesforce world?
Rachel: I love cooking. I like to try at least 1 new recipe a week. I also enjoy walking, exercising and hiking. And of course, shopping! It’s real therapy for me! Lol, shopping is dangerous for me! but I do love a new pair of shoes! 😀
Me: Are you part of a Girly Geeks Chapter?
Rachel: Not yet. I know you are in Montreal and I don’t believe there is a Girly Geeks Chapter there – #Opportunity! 🙂
It was a pleasure getting to know you Rachel and thank you very much for sharing!
You are definitely an inspiration!
