Welcome Jackie Doan – Girly Geek of the Week!
Meet Jackie! Jackie is an accomplished Salesforce Vet (10+ years!) with 5 Certifications, is a Dreamforce Speaker, has answered over 1,000 Questions in the Answers Community and on top of that is a mom of 2 children! Hats off to you Jackie and thank you for being a Success Community Hero!!
Me: How & when did you start working with Salesforce?
Jackie: I started as an end user over 10 years ago (yikes!), and loved it so much that in 2010, I became an admin. After a few years as an admin, I made the jump over to consultant, and that has been such a game-changer for my career. Since I became a consultant, I’ve earned my certifications, was given the chance to attend Dreamforce, and this year I was even able to speak at DF15, presenting sessions on deployment and using Flow in the Service Cloud. #SalesforceVet and Congrats on the chance to present at Dreamforce!
Me: What is your current role working with Salesforce?
Jackie: My title is ‘Senior Salesforce Consultant’. Really, though, my job is to hear the pain points my clients have with their current systems and processes, and figure out how use Salesforce to relieve that pain. Some days that makes me an architect, others, a business analyst, developer, or admin. My job is never boring! As Consulting should be and why its so awesome to have a Salesforce Career!
Me: What is your favorite thing to do in Salesforce and why?
Jackie: I love flow and process builder. It’s an amazing advancement for admins, and nearly eliminates my need for simple triggers. I think it’s incredibly exciting when I’m presented with a challenge to execute complex functionality, and I can find a way to do it inside of these fantastic declarative tools. Well said! and I love that you know how to use FLOW!! the lightbulb just hasn’t gone off for me yet using flow lol! 😀
Me: Are you currently certified? And if so what certifications do you hold?
Jackie: I am! I have 5 certs: Admin, Advanced Admin, Developer, Sales Cloud Consultant, and Service Cloud Consultant. Congrats!! that’s an amazing accomplishment!
Me: What are some of your aspirations and/or goals when it comes to Salesforce?
Jackie: I’d like to learn to do more with Apex – and ultimately, I’d like to get my Technical Architect certification. You Go Girl!! push those numbers up for #WIT that hold the TA cert!!
Me: Do you have any advice for women working with Salesforce?
Jackie: Participation in the community is key! Whether it’s the Success Community, Twitter, LinkedIn, or User Groups, finding other people who are equally passionate about Salesforce will help you find new job opportunities, career paths, training and learning opportunities, and more! Definitely check Jackie out on the Success Community!! She is one of only a couple women that have showed up in the Top 15 Answers Community Leader Board and is currently #37 having answered 1070 Questions!!
Me: What kinds of things are you involved in, and/or do you like to do outside of the Salesforce world?
Jackie: Being a mom takes up most of my time! I have 2 kids, ages 9 and 5. Finding a balance between work and home is probably the most difficult thing I do. But, I love my kids, and I love my job, so the sacrifice is worth it. Other than that, I love to run (though I’ve been slacking lately!), cook, and read trashy romance novels with absolutely no intellectual value. 🙂 #SuperMom!
