Welcome Jean Velonis – Girly Geek of the Week!
Meet Jean! She is a #SoloAdmin, #Supermom and has excellent advice – be a pineapple 😀 Read on and you will understand! She is also a Women In Tech Leader out of Phoenix and runs a fun Success Community Group called Women In Tech Book Club – If you love to read, it’s a must join!
Me: How & when did you start working with Salesforce?
Jean: I started with Salesforce when I worked in a marketing position at a finance company. I have to say it was love at first login! I managed the leads and reporting for the marketing team. From there I got an opportunity to be a reporting queen for the President of one of the divisions. He was so impressed with my reporting skills he sent me to the weeklong training for the Admin 201. I’ve been an admin ever since! Amazing Opportunity!!
Me: What is your current role working with Salesforce?
Jean: My current role is with a startup were I’m the lone admin. #SoloAdmin I manage everything Salesforce plus everything that touches our Salesforce instance. This is where you get to experiment with the extra cool stuff! 🙂
Me: What is your favorite thing to do in Salesforce and why?
Jean: Oh I LOVE process builder! This new and exciting tool has opened so many doors for a declarative Salesforce admin. Yes!! couldn’t agree more!!
Me: Are you currently certified? And if so what certifications do you hold?
Jean: I am Salesforce Admin certified. I’m currently in the Advanced Admin Salesforce Study Group that Deepa Patel runs in the Salesforce community. We are going strong on week 7. I can’t wait to pass this cert and start on the next one! Good Luck! I’m sure you will pass and don’t forget to spread the good news when you do!
Me: What are some of your aspirations and/or goals when it comes to Salesforce?
Jean:
- To get my Advanced Admin certification
- Wrap my head around the developer side of Salesforce
- Continue to give back to the community. I’m currently am one of the Phoenix User group leaders and I run a Women in Tech Book Club with Kelly Leslie @chattyadmin. I love the community and want to do more.
Me: Do you have any advice for women working with Salesforce?
Jean: Be yourself always! Reach out to your fellow women in tech. We all need to help each other. It isn’t always about having it all, I try to just be happy and move towards the things that will continue the happiness. My favorite saying!
I love this!! ❤
Me: What kinds of things are you involved in, and/or do you like to do outside of the Salesforce world?
Jean: Hhmmm, well I’m sorry to say that in my efforts to do more in the community that is what I spend my “free time” on 🙂 When I’m not working or Salesforcing, I enjoy hanging out with my family. I have a teenager and an 18 month old that I wrangle with my wonderful, supportive husband. #Supermom!
Me: Are you part of a Girly Geeks Chapter?
Jean: YES! I’m the one of the Phoenix Women in Tech user group leaders and I also run the Women in Tech Book club with Kelly Leslie @chattyadmin. Awesome!!!
It was a pleasure getting to know you Jean and thank you very much for sharing!
