Organized by MVP and Philadelphia User Group Leader, Jayvin Arora, Salesforce User Groups globally were challenged to raise 2015 lb of food before the end of 2015. He noticed during the Dreamforce One Million Books drive that ‘[Marc Benioff] combined a generous community and a lot of people attending an event to make an impact in the community’. The Salesforce User Groups in Raleigh and Durham followed this same model and organized a Mega User Group Happy Hour involving members of all four local user groups: Raleigh User Group, Raleigh Women In Tech, Raleigh Durham Nonprofit User Group and RTP Developer Group.

To benefit both our local community and our Salesforce community, fellow Salesforce org Inter-Faith Food Shuttle was selected as beneficiary for the Raleigh/Durham #ForceForFood Drive. This innovative hunger relief organization bypasses the traditional warehouse food bank model and specializes in the recovery and distribution of perishable goods. In addition to food distribution, they also aim to educate our community with food nutrition, culinary training and cultivation.


Roughly 40 user group members were in attendance Wednesday, December 2nd at Primal Food and Spirits in Durham. With tasty treats like bacon wrapped dates or shrimp with mango salsa, attendees enjoyed chatting with their fellow Salesforce enthusiasts while also giving back. Averaging 4 lb per attendee, the group donated 150 lb of food, bringing the challenge 7% closer to the target of 2015 lb.
